Whether you experience sleeping problems or not, we always conduct an actigraphy examination to gain insight into the sleeping pattern. There are certain factors that can influence the quality of your sleep. An example of this is blue light, which you are exposed to when using smartphones, tablets, desktop computers, LED_ and fluorescent lighting. Over-exposure to blue light in the evening – especially before bedtime – causes our bodies to stop producing the sleep hormone melatonin, a substance that we need to go to sleep. This can lead to reduced sleep quality. Sleep rhythm, sleep hygiene and activity can also affect our sleep quality. When we don’t sleep well, it can affect our mood and other daily activities and can aggravate or prolong certain symptoms.
The graph on the right shows an example of sleep research data measured over 7 days. It visualizes sleep patterns, activity level and the amount of blue spectrum light in the environment of the person wearing the watch. It indicates whether sleep is consistent or disturbed by certain factors. Based on this data, we will look at how you can positively influence your sleep, which will be incorporated into your personal treatment plan.
You can wear your sleep wristband as soon as you get it. The wristband will immediately start measuring your activity, temperature and light in your environment. The sleep wristband can withstand moisture, but please do not immerse it in water. Please remove before bathing or swimming. For optimal results, it is important that you wear the sleep watch as much as possible, especially during sleep.
Try to remember that you press the blue button on your sleep watch when you go to bed and when you get up (the button will beep if it is pressed correctly).
NOTE: The button is not an ON/OFF function; the sleep watch is always ON!
In order to be able to better analyse the data of the sleep watch, we ask you to fill in a sleeping/wake diary for 7 days. This will inform us of the details of your daily schedule and, for example, if you have taken caffeine, alcohol or medication.
